This class will take you from your vague show idea to a detailed outline of an actual sitcom pilot episode. Themes, characters, story structure and dramatic conflict will be examined in depth. We will workshop each idea, providing all students with specific guidance, orientation and tips. At the conclusion of the course, you will have a completed outline, notes, a definitive pilot story and series direction. All students must be accepted into the class, providing a completed sitcom spec script as a writing sample. Students will come to the first class with a series concept and potential pilot story idea to work on. Class will emulate a writers’ room – a good one – with supportive collaboration and a positive environment.
