About the class
This is a 3 hour version of the 24-hour course Michael teaches in Chicago and Los Angeles. Curriculum points include: a) Choosing the best sitcom to spec; b) Crafting several pitches for your chosen show and picking the best one; c) How to create a classic sitcom outline; d) The goal of your first draft; e) The subtler goal of rewriting; f) Doing a joke pass; g) And what to do with your spec once you’re done fiddling (i.e. how to get it into the hands of an agent). Tuition includes many video examples, as well as a handout. Because sitcom spec scripts are still the main currency by which literary agents use to judge potential clients, this workshop is a must for somebody considering a career as a TV writer.
