JULIE SHARBUTT is so excited to be part of the PIT community, where she performs with her amazing Wednesday night team, as well as Thursday’s THE SCENE. Julie is an actor, writer, and producer, and a native New Yorker. She attended Vanderbilt University (BA) where she performed with local Nashville improv groups Tonguencheek and The Patron Saints. Upon returning to New York, she studied and performed improv and sketch at the UCBT, including her co-written shows “The Goods Are Odd” (UCBT/NY Int. Fringe Festival), “Seriously Extremely Important,” “White Shirt and Jeans,” and “Lawyer/Actress.” She recently graduated from the NYU Graduate Acting Program (MFA) where she also wrote a number of shows, “Charity,” “From Little Cecily,” and “Chekprov,” in addition to acting in many favorite productions there including “The Importance of Being Earnest” (dir. Sam Gold), The Clean House, La Ronde, Picnic, and many others. You may have seen her since in Shakespeare in the Parks “Twelfth Night” where she understudied Anne Hathaway. She has performed and done workshops and readings at Naked Angels, Red Bull Theater, The Public Theater, Young Playwrights Inc, New York Theater Workshop, the 52nd Street Project, and others in New York, and The Williamstown Theatre Festival, Portland Stage, Georgia Theatre Festival, Richmond Theatre Ensemble, and others regionally. She has two screenplays in development right now, SMART GIRLS with Beech Hill Films, and MOVED which she is producing herself and starring in.
She likes horses, candles, hiking, reading, puppies, backrubs, jeans, steaks, and thunderstorms.
