Somebody's in the Doghouse / STuFF
Thursday, Oct 11, 2012 8pm
$8 / $45 (FESTIVAL PASS)
We all want things we probably shouldn't -- that new bag, a slug of Jack Daniels, Facebook fame, or the perfect f&$* holiday bazaar. With their new show, Somebody's in the Doghouse explores what happens when you get what you want, or get a terrible illness while trying.
Somebody's in the Doghouse writes character-driven sketches that are topical, sharp, and a little screwball. Then they perform the SH*T out of them. They were Friars Club Sketch Competition Finalists in 2010 and 2011 and have also screened their sitcom pilot at the New York Television Festival, sailed the seas with The Second City, and hit sketch festivals all over the country, including Chicago Sketchfest, San Francisco Sketchfest and the Women in Comedy Festival.
Somebody's in the Doghouse is Leah Gotcsik (The Scene, The Made Up Musical, iO Chicago) and Marty Johnson (Improv Boston Harold Night, Improv Asylum) | Web site
AND
STuFF is a NYC-based sketch comedy group, but not a sketch comedy troupe or sketch comedy ensemble, because those words are douche-y. Their work is a bellwether of socially conscious comedy, evidenced by the inclusion of chicks and black dudes and shit, and their style of humor demonstrates there is such a thing as too much maternal encouragement. Though the group name seems fairly straightforward, it actually is a derivation from the Albanian stypff, a mostly untranslatable word whose approximate meaning falls somewhere between 'theatrical' and 'fiscally responsible.' Critics rave about STuFF, somewhere, probably. Check out the link to their website below, which includes deets about their epic new Comedy Pilot DVD "STuFF HaPPeNS"!
STuFF Films is Ethan Aronoff, Diana Cherkas, Charlie Coniglio, Raymond Cordova, Jessica DiGiovanni, Griffin Dubois, Jon Galvez, Jonathan Murray, Roger Aylward, Joshua Key Maginnis, Joya Mia Italiano and Jared Miller | Web site
