Despite their name, The Templeton Philharmonic are not an orchestra, but rather, a comedic duo composed of Gwynne Phillips and Briana Templeton. Together, these Toronto-based writers and performers have staged critically acclaimed comedy shows in Toronto, Montreal and Los Angeles. Both are University of Toronto theatre graduates and have created work for The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival, Nuit Blanche, Luminato and at Italy's Il Piccolo Teatro di Milano.
Their delectably surreal vignettes feature a blend of hideous Edwardian dresses, searing social commentary, and deadpan interpretive dance. Recently, they were nominated for the 2011 Just for Laughs Award for Best English Comedy at the Festival St-Ambroise Fringe Montreal. This past April, they were presented with the award for Best Comedy Duo at the largest comedy festival in North America, The LA Comedy Festival.
