About the class
This class incorporates scenework, movement-based and group exercises to explore the primary fundamentals of improvisation, making you more confident, trusting and graceful on stage. Learn how to say "yes, and…," make positive choices, initiate and commit to scenes, heighten, use tag-outs and walk-ons, and deliver real-life monologues.
The PIT's Introduction to Improv class emphasizes creating a rich environment for your scenes, committing to your decisions and your scene partner and beginning with the body as inspiration. There will be a final graduation performance at the PIT for friends, family, and others.
Megan Baker is a NYC-based writer and comedian originally from the cheese kingdom of Wisconsin. She studied improv at The Peoples Improv Theater and The Annoyance (NYC) and performs with PIT house team Animal Farm every Monday at 9 pm. On days other than Mondays, you can find her playing all over the city with her all-lady indie team Flying V and her all-human indie team You're Not My Dad, or writing for the feminist comedic panel show The Box. She graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in journalism and political science, and during daytime hours she writes about all things home decor. Follow her on Twitter (@mruthbaker) for jokes and sofa recommendations.
