About the class

"Anatomy of a 1-Liner" is a one-evening, 2 -hour course that describes the many types and categories of jokes. Focusing on monologue and roast jokes this workshop will guide you on how to write them with precision. The course also examines the many pitfalls of joke writing and how to avoid them. Neil will also provide live punch-up during the class.



Neil Berliner has 18 years of comedy experience and has written for eight roasts on Comedy Central, The Howard Stern Show, and The Friars Club, as well as writing for The NY Times "Laugh Lines" and MAD Magazine. He also does stand up and debuted a new show at Broadway Comedy Club in July.

Neil Berliner has written lines performed on many major roasts for Comedy Central, The Howard Stern Show, and the Friars Club; including William Shatner, Matt Lauer, Flavor Flav, Artie Lange, Pat Cooper, Andy Dick, and Mario Batali. His material has been featured in many national venues including The New York Times, The View, The Howard Stern Show, The Joy Behar Show, Page 6 and Rush & Molloy. Neil has written monologues and desk bits for the syndicated late-night talk show, The John Kerwin Show in L.A. for three years, and is the newest writer for MAD Magazine.
