About the show

For nine years (and counting), Hy Bender has covered NYC comedy daily via his sites BestNewYorkComedy.com and HyReviews.com. Hy's now using that experience to curate & produce this show that's been recommended by The New York Times.

Best New York Comedy collides songs into stand-up. After each stand-up performs a set, world-class musical improvisors Rebecca Vigil & Evan Kaufman (Your Love, Our Musical) make up a song about that set on the spot--backed by an improv pianist (Dan Reitz) and a beat-boxer (Ethan Exacto).

As you might expect, Best New York Comedy also features some of the best stand-ups and character comics in the country. The February 7th show includes:

- Josh Gondelman: Writer/producer for HBO's Last Week Tonight with John Oliver; Conan O'Brien; The New Yorker

- Joseph Opio: Writer for Comedy Central's The Daily Show

- Ophira Eisenberg: Host of NPR show Ask Me Another; author of Screw Everyone: Sleeping My Way to Monogamy; NBC's The Today Show, CBS' The Late Late Show, Comedy Central, Showtime, VH1

- Sean Patton: One of the very finest stand-ups in the country; Jimmy Fallon, Conan O'Brien, Comedy Central Half Hour special, VH1, feature film Wifed Out; former co-host of Esquire Network's Best Bars in America

- Jim Tews: Performed on Louis CK's Louie and NBC's Last Comic Standing, co-host of UCB's Fresh Out and Homeschooled, author of book Felines of New York

- Filip Jeremic: Exceptional comedic actor/chameleon; UCB's Characters Welcome; will be playing a memorable long-time resident of the West Village
