About the show
72 hours, is performed by Neil Curran, Irish Improviser and Maura Mannle, American improviser. These two performers have come together with their love of acting, stories and improv to create a special show, showcasing the art of storytelling, human connection and live improvised theatre.
Our show is a fresh take on a typical improv comedy show. Our emphasis is on telling unique and real stories inspired by a theme and the participation of the audience. It is a combination of storytelling followed by an improvised play based on the story told.
Before the show starts the audience will have voted on a list of themes for the show, including and not limited to; romance, family, mystery, broken hearts, fear, loss, embarrassing moment, etc. The performers will announce the chosen theme at the top of show and introduce how stories are inspired by a simple theme. We will ask audience members to close their eyes and start thinking of something that maybe happened to them based on this theme. The point is to focus on specific time and incident. We then ask a brave audience member to share their story on stage with the help of the performers asking pointed questions to better understand story and always making audience member feel comfortable. After the story telling portion concludes, the performers now tell the audience “We will know discover what happened 72 hours leading up to this moment!”
What’s unique about our show is the performers won’t reenact what was told but instead create a new world before the moment happened including supporting characters, a different point of view maybe explaining why and/or how the moment happened. Think of it as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern meet a true crime show unfolding live on stage.
