About the class
Exercise your comedy dance skills in a workshop inspired by the game show Dancify That! We’ll play improv and movement games, develop over-the-top dancer personas, and use viral videos to inspire short dance pieces. Great for improvisers and actors looking to turn up their level of fearless physical play, dancers wanting to play with comedy, and anyone interested in a damn good time!
Ben Weber is one half of the Dancify duo Chöd and 50% of the Dancify duo XIPIXIZ (zee PEEK sees). When he is not revealing the ancient secrets of improvised comedic dance, Ben leads workshops in improvised singing both locally and globally. Recently, he has facilitated local spontaneous song with Theater of The Oppressed NYC, The NYC Department of Education, The Stuyvesant Gardens Social Club, and the Learning Spring School. Ben has also gathered a circle of singers in Hamilton, ON and Sydney, NSW, Australia. He’s also a Teaching Artist with the New Victory Theater, Brooklyn Arts Exchange and Brooklyn Arts Council, as well as the host of the podcast Cozy Zone with Ben Weber.
Sarah Petersiel is Dancify That’s Official Timekeeper/Grim Reaper. She teaches Dancify-inspired workshops for performers and non-performers alike. Outside of her keepin’, reapin’, and teachin’ duties, she serves as Co-Artistic Director of the physical comedy Under the Table. With Under the Table Sarah has co-created and performed in six original shows, touring and teaching nationally and internationally. Sarah is also an interactive performer/hospital clown with Healthy Humor, a teaching artist with the New Victory Theater, and an adjunct professor at SUNY Purchase, teaching classes in Improvisation.
