In this class, you’ll be the first to take part in a developmental process to create a new form of The Improvised Documentary. Sarah Nowak, veteran improv/sketch performer and teacher, has paired with performer/documentarian Tracey B. Wilson to break down the commonly-used beats and storytelling devices to create a fully-realized improvised documentary. This class takes a non-traditional approach to cooperative storytelling that is not often explored enough in long-form Improvisation.
In this class you will:
- Gain a deeper understanding of grounded scene work and storytelling
- Participate in the creation of an enhanced improv form
- Create sets that build and flow, working toward powerful endings
- Create potent & interesting characters
- Master the art of group mind, group game, and creating theater as a team

Sarah Nowak is very grateful to be a member of the PIT House team, The Baldwins, performing every Saturday night on the mainstage. She studied improv at The Second City of Toronto Conservatory before moving to New York to join The PIT where she is proud to be a frequent performer and Level One Improv teacher. As a character actress, her favorite roles include A Witch in Macbeth for Shakespeare in Delaware Park, and recently Belise in Les Femmes Savants and Dawn in All in the Timing for The Williamsburg Theatre Company. She has worked on several improv and sketch projects around the city and has traveled around the country with her independent ensemble SidViscous.
