About the show
An isle of misfit comedy nerds descend upon the PIT to exploit their personal damage for cheap laughs. This new comedy team originates from the D.C. political scene, modern dance landscape, evangelical Christian world, and more.
Through sardonic sketches, stand-up, sassy walks and political subtext, “Gay Stuff” will dissect internalized homophobia, oppressive bro prerogative, and marginalizing gay cliches- by way of dick jokes. It shouldn’t (and may not) work but you’ll have a lot to talk about either way, so win.
Throwing down 2 gay-tastic sketches, and spearheading this whole farce, is rebel-clown choreographer Jamie Benson. For some reason, Benson’s highbrow-meets-lowbrow dance work has been featured in the New York and LA Times, around the U.S., across the international film festival circuit, within the Phaidon book “Wild Art”, and granted funding by the Brooklyn Arts Council. Contributing a sketch and stand up set is Hannah Goldman, an actor, writer, director, voiceover artist, and part-time ninja based in Brooklyn. She specializes in physical comedy, absurd characters, and dick jokes – all the things that make her mama proud.
Offering a performative rant will be Christine Driscoll, a performer and producer hailing from the avant garde world of Washington, D.C. think tanks. White Papers! Forums! Memorandums of Understanding! Her performance will have none of those things but draw on them all. Learn more at christine-driscoll.com
