Want to start producing your own work, but don’t know where to start? Intro to Self-Producing is a series of free workshops facilitated by members of the PIT Artistic Staff that will help you clarify your goals, get organized, and get a plan. Each session is a self-contained workshop meant to help address particular producing challenges and goals, sign up for as many or as few as you like.
Stephen Stout is the Director of Original Content Development and Production at The Peoples Improv Theater, having previously served as The PIT’s Artistic Director. He, along with Colin Waitt, produced the original sold out, downtown run of Matt Cox’s Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic at The PIT, and serves as an associate producer on it’s subsequent runs at The Elektra Theater, and New World Stages.
Will Purpura is a comedian, writer, and actor based in New York City. He studied dramatic writing at New York University receiving a BFA and has since written award-winning plays and screenplays. He served as Artistic Director at the PIT Chapel Hill where he also taught, produced, and performed stand up, improv and sketch comedy. Will has performed stand-up in the Westside Comedy Festival (LA) the North Carolina Comedy Festival (Greensboro), and Devil Cup Comedy Festival (NY). He was a finalist in both the 2019 NC’s Funniest Competition and the 2020 Ultimate Comic Challenge in North Carolina. He is currently part of the Artistic Team at the PIT in New York.
