Level 1: Improv | October 1 | Zak SommerfieldRegister
About the class
This class incorporates scenework, movement-based and group exercises to explore the primary fundamentals of improvisation, making you more confident, trusting and graceful on stage. Learn how to say “yes, and…,” make positive choices, initiate and commit to scenes, heighten, use tag-outs and walk-ons, and deliver real-life monologues.
The PIT’s Introduction to Improv class emphasizes creating a rich environment for your scenes, committing to your decisions and your scene partner and beginning with the body as inspiration. There will be a final graduation performance at the PIT for friends, family, and others.
Hi, I’m Zak Sommerfield. I’m a New York-based actor, director, and reluctant writer. I created the web series “Have You Heard”, acted in and directed various other web series and commercials.
I’ve studied improv since 2010 at UCB and The Pit. Currently, I’m a member of the PIT house team “The Community Players”. I also perform regularly with the long-running improv shows Made for TV Movie at The PIT and Thank You for Coming Out at The Magnet.
I’ve coached roughly 30 indie teams over the course of about 3 years as well as teaching PIT drop in’s and level 0’s. I’m very interested in sharing the fun of improv with you.
