NYC Solocom 2021: Moeller | Doku | Johnson
The Peoples Improv Theater proudly announces the return of NYC Solocom, livestreaming Thursday, June 3rd – Sunday, June 6th. NYC Solocom has launched over 400 new solo comedies that have gone on to longer runs, tours and festivals around the world (including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.)
NYC Solocom is a festival of new solo work. All shows presented are 75% – 100% new material, and are created specifically for the festival. NYC Solocom’s goal is to push artists to create a show that is meaningful, personal and to follow the fear.
Enjoy these daring, original solo performances from the comfort of your own home, via the PIT livestreams on Youtube Live.
1pm EST – Jordan Moeller: “A Few Bad Men”
A Few Bad Men is an unflinching critique of toxic masculinity and the way it manifests in the modern world. The characters were created through an exploration of Jordan’s own masculinity, its paradoxes, falsities, and gilded virtues.
1:20pm EST – Akua Doku: “When A Pandemic Hits, Get A Tik Tok Account”
The show will be a solo stand up comedy show with images and insight on my life pre- and post covid-vaccine and how I’m handling it like a team who lost to Tom Brady.
1:45pm EST – Erica Johnson: “21st Century Black Woman: Classy.Bougie.Rachet”
2020 was a hard year for Black women. But we not only bounced back, we saved America (again) and democracy. We’re the most educated and disrespected at the same time. This standup show is more than just a stress reliever, it’s a reckoning! It’s classy, bougie, and ratchet. It celebrates who I am now and who I’m going to be. Come see what I’m Becoming!
EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT: Tickets are only $4.99 until May 31st!
Festival passes available. Passholders will gain access to all twelve NYC Solocom show blocks.
