The Basics of Sketch Comedy Writing class will introduce students to the core tenets of sketch comedy writing. The class will focus on basic sketch forms and concepts, including juxtapostion, heightening, linguistics, absurdism, parody, developing personal voice and revision. The class will leave students with all the skills they will need to begin their sketch comedy careers with a strong foundation.
**Students are expected to bring an original sketch to the first day of class.

Emily is a New York native who can be seen killing it in the comedy scene. Born and raised in Eastchester, Westchester, Emily quickly found an interest in entertainment and dolls. She currently directs the PIT House Sketch Team, Main Squeeze and co-produces, writes, and performs for the reoccurring show CHURCH with Donna Wood. After earning her BFA in Acting at the Pace School of Performing Arts, Emily has performed and directed improv and sketch at the PIT, National Comedy Theater, and the Armory. Emily can also be seen in the BRIC webseries Dinette and other awesome videos on IFC, Funny Or Die, Discovery ID, Sundance and the TriBeCa Film Festival.
