The Buttons Don’t Work Here – MELISSA AQUILES
“In sociology, anomie is a social condition that occurs when a society’s values, norms, and standards break down.
It’s been proven elevator “Close Door” buttons don’t work. John Mulaney has named the crosswalk button, the “Stupid Button”. Automated customer service representatives drive us insane.
This is a solo character show about that very American feeling of anomie and what it’s like to operate in a world that isn’t designed to work for us. And it’s completely metaphorized in the buttons that surround us.
The Buttons Don’t Work Here!!! But we can’t stop pressing them!!!”
