*PREREQUISITE: YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETED LEVEL 1 SKETCH OR EQUIVALENT AT ANOTHER COMEDY THEATER TO QUALIFY FOR THIS CLASS. In the comment section of Checkout, please list when you took said classes and who your instructors were.
If you fail to meet the prerequisites for this course and continue to register anyway, we will have to transfer you out and add the balance as class credit, to be used for other classes.*
Learn more about writing topical and political sketches that are smart, clever, and above all, FUNNY. We’ll go into how to break down news stories to find interesting and funny details, approach stories at the top of our intelligence, and write within our own unique voices to find fresh perspectives for sketches. Topical and political humor can be intimidating for writers! This class aims to take away the fear and give students a space to practice for their careers!

Instructor
Andrea Romano is a comedy writer and creative producer. She has written and produced content at a number of media outlets like Travel + Leisure, Bustle, Mashable, Cracked, USA Today, Little Old Lady Comedy, Oregano.com, and more.
A former student of both UCB and the People’s Improv Theater, Andrea has written and performed on shows such as Sketch Cram! at UCSB, Old School Sketch Show, This Live Show, and Group Kid, as well as being a former house team player on Steve’s Hard Milk and team director for Scoot Scoot on Super Sketch Tuesday.
She currently produces College Radio at the PIT.
