This is for stand up comedians who have studied stand up comedy, written a solid set, have attended open mics and are serious about committing harder to stand up in 2022. You will come out of this course with a 7 minute set and a comprehensive understanding of the business of stand up comedy. I will provide you with an extensive list of stand up comedy open mics, assistance with goal setting, guidance for online tools, writing practices for continued growth and tips on how to remain personally resilient. Our final class on 3/9 will also serve as a showcase for friends & family. This course will include a live panel discussion and Q+A with professionals in the field of stand up comedy including a stand up comedian, booker & a comedy agent.

Prerequisite: You must have taken a stand up comedy class with Christi prior to enrollment or provide an email to the PIT detailing your stand up comedy experience to be considered.

Instructor

Christi Chiello is a stand up comedian based in New York City. She made her television debut on Comedy Central’s Roast Battle, opposite legend Jimmy Carr. Christi is featured on this season’s Comedy Central Stand Up Featuring and she recently filmed a new stand up series This Joka with Will Smith and Westbrook Studios.

Christi was named a “New Face of Comedy” at the International Just For Laughs Comedy Festival and has appeared on Rachel Dratch’s Late Night Snack and Comedy Knockout on TruTV, Kevin Hart’s LOL Network, Chris Gethard Presents on Manhattan Neighborhood Network and has played various roles on IFC’s Comedy Crib. Her one woman show It’s Christi, B*tch! Was featured in the New York Times and hailed a “must see comedy event” by Time Out New York. Christi currently tours the country as Nicole Byer’s opening act!

For over 6 years Christi has had the honor of teaching stand up comedy at various institutions including Muhlenberg College, Sarah Lawrence College, Hunter College, ArtsQuest and the People’s Improv Theatre. She has taught hundreds of students how to translate their ideas into a crafted act through proper joke structure, writing & editing techniques all while developing a commitment to their own unique sense of humor. Students of Christi’s have gone on to develop professional careers in comedy including writing for Saturday Night Live and Showtime’s Ziwe.
