What kind of shows premiere at SOLOCOM?
Anything and everything under the sun. Storytelling shows, stand up sets, collections of characters, cabaret and musical theater performance, clowning, autobiography, multimedia, solo plays, magic, burlesque.
If it’s a live performance, comedic or comedically inflected in nature, and features only one person (accompanists or audience interaction being exceptions), it’s eligible for SOLOCOM.
SOLOCOM is a super supportive environment with artists sharing their first stabs at shows that can go on to longer lives at The PIT or venues at home or abroad.
We’re looking to expand our participants by adding generative artists and wonderfully talented individuals such as yourself who might not otherwise have considered a comedy theater as a potential creative outlet and resource.
What do I need to apply?
Just a desire to risk and create something new. Submissions range from simple sentence long descriptions to longer more detailed summaries. Whether you have an impulse you’ve always wanted to develop into something or something you’ve been working on for a while but it hasn’t yet made it to the stage, SOLOCOM is the home for it!
Are there any costs involved?
Just the cost of the application fee – goes to cover the costs of the festival, everything from techs to step and repeat and performer passes.
This application fee covers the cost of your tech/board operator as well as performer passes and festival promotional materials.
Otherwise, no cost involved!
It’s a damn good time, we’ll work with you to develop and market your show and you’ll walk away with the entire first draft of a new completed solo show!
We hope you apply!
