PREREQUISITE: YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETED LEVEL 2 IMPROV  TO QUALIFY FOR THIS CLASS. In the comment section of Checkout, please list when you took said classes and who your instructors were.

If you fail to meet the prerequisites for this course and continue to register anyway, we will have to transfer you out and add the balance as class credit, to be used for other classes.

In level 3 you will continue to focus on strong listening and reacting without interrupting your scene partner. Making sure “the beginning of your sentence doesn’t get in the way of the middle of theirs”. You will reinforce saying “Yes, and…!” Until you have to say “no thank you”. You’ll learn about devices such as the Analogous or Time-Dash scenes, and work on the first, second, and third beats of scenes. Students will continue to focus on editing by following their gut and heart to edit scenes at the height. You’ll now begin working in 3+ person/group scenes!

Learn how to “heighten and tighten” a scene organically glued in reality to create “win-win” fun scenes to play to entertain yourself and others while “treating your partner like a genius”. You’ll also be introduced to the most widely-known Improv show format- The Harold! As a class you’ll work on performing this format of an Improv show for your Grad Show.

***Grad show will be held Sunday, 3/2 from 5-6pm in The PIT Loft***

Instructor

Pat Swearingen is from Danville, Illinois. Gene Hackman and Dick Van Dyke are also from that city. Just sayin’. A featured performer at The PIT you can also catch himtouring the country in “Broadway’s Next Hit Musical”
(www.broadwaysnexthitmusical.com). Pat has also appeared in the original casts of the “Unauthorized: The Musical” versions of “Back To The Future” (Doc Brown), “The Hunger Games” (Caesar) and “Nightmare on Elm Street” (Freddy Krueger). Recent new works include “The Magnificient Revengers” by Matt Cox, “Talk To Me” by Megan Bussiere, and “Paradise Lost & Found” by Tirosh Schneider”. Pat is lucky to be a much in demand improv coach/instructor and his favorite credit is teaching kids how to act and write plays for eleven seasons at the Williamstown Theatre Festival through an extension of the 52nd Street Project. Also, if you don’t blink, you can catch him dancing at da club in the “I’m Rick James, b***h!” sketch for “Chappelle’s Show”.

“Pat Swearingen is a powerhouse! By the end of the first act I was in love, by the end of the second I had discovered a new emotion stronger than that just to feel for him!”-OnStage

“Highlights include Pat Swearingen who almost single-handedly steals the show as hilariously over-the-top TV host Caesar.”-Bestnewyorkcomedy.com
