Surviving the Spectrum – KRISTEN ROMNEY
As a child, I was diagnosed with several learning disabilities (or as I prefer to say learning different abilities) and speech impediments, in addition to being on the autism spectrum. All of this combined led to a plethora of daily challenges, from not being able to say my own name to struggling in school to difficulties managing social situations. Even many years post-school, these diagnoses contain to present challenges in my day-to-day adult life, such as struggling to maintain eye contact. As a stand-up comedian, I have taken these memories from my childhood as well as facts about my life now and have turned this all into a routine that both tells my story and engages audiences with my comedic flair.
SOLOCOM NYC has launched over 400 new solo comedies that have gone on to longer runs, tours and festivals around the world (including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.)
