Fly Trap – MARIA MAINELLI
A story of being an artist, licking an armpit, and losing yourself, follow Maria as she takes her grandmother’s advice, “you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar”, to heart. But too much honey only gets you into sticky situations. Covering topics like middle school pool parties, braces, and the horrors of getting a degree in the arts, it’s a show as full of humor as it is heartbreak.
Heather’s Junk Drawer – HEATHER E. SCHWARTZ
Featuring trash, treasures, and the songs they inspire, Heather’s Junk Drawer is fueled by a genuine decluttering effort and the audience’s willingness to help. Is it improv? Yes! But with planned funny bits. So it’s sketch then? Yes! Except that a lot of it really is improvised… OK, here’s the deal: I’ve got a format to play in, but I really don’t know what direction I’m going in as I develop this show. I’d love to explore at SoloCom NYC 2025!
Full Circle Flunkie – MEGAN BERNARD
Full Circle Flunkie is about growing up having been undiagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in the 1980s. Finally diagnosed at age 16, follow me through my journey from mischievous smart ass in elementary school to well meaning yet bumbling adult who can’t seem to get her shit together. I’m that gal with a heart of 24 karat platted gold who means well but remains a notorious f&#%up to this day. Want to know more about the woman who has refused to be medicated for her ADHD? Me too! P.S. Ask me about my time in lock up!
I want my show to be relatable to people who have ADHD and give insight to those who don’t. I also want to share my work for the first time with an audience, edit my writing and improve my performance through feedback. Ultimately I would like to incorporate additional material I have written and expand upon my storytelling.
Everything I’m About to Tell You Actually Happened – MEGAN GEIGER
Past audiences of this story have reviewed it as “cannot believe this is real”, and “I wish I had a story like that”. To that I say… be careful what you wish for. You’ve most likely never heard the phrase “spiritual wedding”, and I hadn’t either until my ex boyfriend spiritually married the girl who he cheated on me with. And of course, because I’m awesome, they just had to mention me in their spiritual vows, in front of 150 people from our high school. And again, due to my awesomeness, the officiant of the spiritual wedding gave me their phone number. If you’re looking for a truly original tale, this is it. And every single bit of it, for better or worse, from my perspective, is true. I hope you’re ready, because I sure wasn’t.
