Baggage – TIM LIMBRICK
Comedian Tim Limbrick blends dark humor with personal tragedy as he unpacks his father’s sudden death overseas & what it means to carry-on.
Gravity Lessons – CAT HAYES
I’m developing a storytelling show about how I fell off a mountain, survived, and learned how important it is to hang on when you’re holding onto to a mountain on the side of a cliff – plus how to love. On a hike with a friend in Hawaii, we had to climb about 10 feet across a rock wall. I went first, and my friend called my name. For whatever reason, my brain said I should talk with my mouth AND hands and I pulled them off the mountain to say, “what”? I fell 25 feet, bounced off the mountain, and had the funniest most beautiful experience of my life – and all I broke was my ass!
Sexy Dirty Dirty Broads – REYNARD ROXBURY
The first female stand-up comedian was definitely a whore. I came to this conclusion after doing some open mics and classes at the Pit, recalling what I knew about the history of performance in New York, then researching / discovering how much comedy, musicals and variety flourished in this part of town in the late 1800s — next to the legit theatres, saloons, and whorehouses that made the entertainment district. I’ve been writing about this world and the likely inhabitants, tried a couple mics as this character. The enticing paragraph might be more like this:
Come up to Club Sixthirtythird, New York’s hottest nightspot of 1892, in the heart of the Tenderloin district. The Widow Poissard regales customers with jokes, songs, and stories about how she went from streetwalker to businessowner. She wants to keep the place wet and open, so buy a girl a drink.
SOLOCOM NYC has launched over 400 new solo comedies that have gone on to longer runs, tours and festivals around the world (including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.)
