Becoming Out – MICHAEL INGE
Michael Inge delivers sharp, southern, sassy stand-up, blending quick wit and storytelling. He shares hilarious tales of growing up gay in rural Virginia, navigating life in NYC, and finding humor in faith, family, and relationships.
Dirty Stroller – CAROLINE HERSHEY
From trying to contain the chaos in an NYC apartment, to googling “Boarding Pre-Schools Tri-State Area,” my solo show Dirty Stroller is mommy meltdown meets New York or Nowhere, with a side of birth control. Hear what it’s really like raising kids in NYC–and not just any kids– twin toddlers and a 1 year old. Ever spent a whole day in the Union Square Whole Foods because you’re trapped in the elevator with a baby? How about potty training when your kids watch people peeing or worse in the streets everyday? Some kids like Goldfish, my spoiled downtown brats will settle for nothing less than a Wagyu skewer from an overpriced food truck. Cinderella? More like Citarella. But why would we move to the suburbs when we can all be woken up by a car alarm at 5am?
Surviving the Spectrum – KRISTEN ROMNEY
As a child, I was diagnosed with several learning disabilities (or as I prefer to say learning different abilities) and speech impediments, in addition to being on the autism spectrum. All of this combined led to a plethora of daily challenges, from not being able to say my own name to struggling in school to difficulties managing social situations. Even many years post-school, these diagnoses contain to present challenges in my day-to-day adult life, such as struggling to maintain eye contact. As a stand-up comedian, I have taken these memories from my childhood as well as facts about my life now and have turned this all into a routine that both tells my story and engages audiences with my comedic flair.
SOLOCOM NYC has launched over 400 new solo comedies that have gone on to longer runs, tours and festivals around the world (including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.)
