GENERAL FAQs

WHERE IS MY SHOW?
– We have three separate stages at two separate venues. The PIT Underground & PIT Striker Stage are located at 123 E 24th St, between Park & Lexington. The PIT LOFT is located at 154 W 54th St, between 6th & 7th Aves.

IS THERE A BAR?
– If you’re visiting the PIT Underground or Striker Stage, hang out before or after your show our full bar, located on site at 123 E 24th St. Yes, you can bring your drink into the show.
– If you’re visiting the PIT LOFT, beer and wine are available for purchase at our box office, so be sure to grab a drink on your way into the show. Visit Pioneers, the official bar of the PIT LOFT, a few doors down at 138 W 29th St, before or after the show!

DO I HAVE TO DRINK?
Nope! There is no drink minimum at the PIT.

CAN I GET FOOD AT THE PIT?
Our bar serves chips and snacks. We do not have a full kitchen!

I LOST MY ____ AT THE PIT!
The PIT is not responsible for lost or stolen items on our premises. However, if you lose something while you’re hanging out with us, we do our best to save it for you in our lost and found so you can find it later! If you misplaced something of value (iPhone, camera) give us a call – 212.563.7488.

HOW DO I PERFORM AT THE PIT?
Have an indie team? Want to produce a sketch show? Solo show? Variety show? Fill out the following:thepit-nyc.com/submit. Also, keep an eye out for festivals at the PIT like NYC Improv Fest, Sketch Fest, SoloCom, and IndieFest and submit your team or show!
House Team auditions take place every six months, or so. To be eligible to audition, you must have completed Levels 1-5 at the PIT.

WHAT IS A JAM?
A jam is an event hosted by PIT performers, where audience members have the opportunity to practice and play with other improvisers. Participation is encouraged, but you’re welcome to just watch. Check out all our jams here.

DO YOU DO PRIVATE EVENTS?
The PIT is available for rentals & private events. We host children’s birthday parties, film shoots, private screenings and shows, and more! For more information reach out to corporate@thepit-nyc.com.

 

TICKETING FAQs

DO I NEED TO BUY MY TICKET IN ADVANCE?
Advanced sales are encouraged! Purchase your tickets ahead of time through our website.

DO I NEED TO PRINT MY TICKETS?
Nope! When you arrive at the PIT or PIT LOFT, check in at the box office and we’ll give you your ticket.

DO YOU OFFER REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES ON TICKETS?

There are no refunds on any PIT purchases. No exceptions.

Class transfers or exchanges are allowed up to a week before the class begins. There are no credits/transfers/exchanges after that time period or after the class begins. The PIT reserves the right to change class instructors if needed.

If you are not able to attend a show for which you have purchased tickets, call the box office at 212-563-7488 or email info@thepit-nyc.com before 6pm the day of the show. We will put a PIT credit for the face value of your tickets on your account. This credit can be used toward classes or shows at The PIT. PIT credit expires one year after the issue date. We do not offer any credit for shows that have passed. Casts for all shows are subject to change by the producers and we do not offer refunds based on these changes.

Any and all other PIT purchases are not subject to refund, but a credit may be issued. To see if your purchase qualifies for a PIT credit, please email info@thepit-nyc.com.

I’M A STUDENT! WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
Student tickets are $5 (cash only) at the door, room permitting with a valid PIT student ID.

I’M RUNNING LATE TO SEE A SHOW, CAN I GET IN?
We do not guarantee admission after a show has started. Late seating is at the discretion of night management. For sold out shows, if you have not arrived by the ticketed start time, we reserve the right to give your seats to our stand-by list.

OH NO, THE SHOW I WANT TO SEE IS SOLD OUT! WHAT DO I DO?
For all sold out shows, there will be a stand-by list at the door, available when our box office opens at 6:00PM the night of the show. To add your name to the stand-by list, you must sign up in person at the box office. If all pre-purchased tickets are not claimed, the Night Manager will admit the Stand-By list on a first-come, first-serve basis, pending availability.

IS THERE AN AGE RESTRICTION?
We recommend all our programming for ages 18+. Our content is live, uncensored, and unpredictable. We are also attached to a full bar. If you have questions about the appropriateness of a particular show, feel free to give us a call at 212-563-7488.

WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?
For best seating and to avoid lines, we recommend that you arrive about 30 minutes early. We open doors for our shows right at “show time,” but you can hang out at the bar before the show and bring your drink in with you.

 

CLASSES FAQs

WHERE DO CLASSES TAKE PLACE?
The majority of PIT classes take place at Simple Studios – 134 W 29th St (between 6th & 7th Aves).
The best place to confirm your class location is in the “Class Reminder” email you will receive the day before your class begins!

HOW MANY CLASSES CAN I MISS?
Students can miss up to 2 classes and still move on to the next Level Improv or Sketch course in our core curriculum.

SHOULD I SIGN UP FOR LEVEL 0 OR LEVEL 1 IMPROV?
Level 0 is a 4-week class focused on learning the concept of “yes, and” – it does not have a class show; Level 1 is an 8-week class where students learn basic improv concepts and begin doing scene work – it does have a class show.

HOW DO I REQUEST A CLASS?
If you don’t see a class currently offered that you want to take, shoot us an email at classes@thepit-nyc.com.

DO YOU OFFER PRIVATE CLASSES?
We sure do! We offer private improv classes for visiting school groups, birthday parties, bachelorette parties, and more. Email corporate@thepit-nyc.com for more information.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I REFER A FRIEND TO THE PIT?

Refer a friend to the PIT and receive a $50 amazon gift card! Your friend must place your name in the “comments” section at checkout in order for the referral to be valid. Email classes@thepit-nyc.com for more information

 

BAR FAQs

CAN I BRING MY DRINK INTO THE SHOW WITH ME?
Yep! Absolutely.

IS THERE A DRINK MINIMUM?
Nope, none of our shows have a drink minimum.

IS THERE FOOD AT BAR?
We have chips and snacks at the bar. Or, if you’d prefer, you can bring in your own food and eat that too.

HOW DO I ARRANGE A PRIVATE EVENT?
If you’re interested in renting out the space, email corporate@thepit-nyc.com.

DO YOU GUYS DO BIRTHDAY PARTIES?
Yes! Broadway Birthday Bashes are children’s birthday parties featuring musical improv shows, a dance party, cotton candy, ice cream, and lots of fun. We can also do private rentals for the bar and theater for adult birthday parties.

WHEN IS HAPPY HOUR? WHAT ARE THE DEETS?
Happy Hour is Monday-Friday 5-7pm and all-day Sunday.
During Happy Hour, all drinks are $1 off!
Happy Hour is also the name of a weekly improv jam at 6:30pm on Fridays.
