Ilyssa Baine

As a part of clowning duo Kate&Ilyssa, Ilyssa performs clown on a regular basis and has a rotating residency at The Peoples Improv Theater in NY, NY.  Kate&Ilyssa will be making their international debut at the Prague and Brighton Fringe Festivals this Spring! Ilyssa has also performed solo clown material in the Peoples Improv Theater Solocom Festival this past Fall.  She studied clown and games with Philippe Gaulier in France this July, and it was such an inspiration for teaching. Prior to that, Ilyssa studied clown with Chris Bayes and multiple former apprentices: Carter Gill, Zachary Michael Fine, Lucas Caleb Rooney, as well as Virginia Scott, Aitor Basauri, Daniel Passer, Caroline Dream, Rene Bazinet and Pochinko Clown with John Turner.

Ilyssa has experience teaching early childhood, childhood and secondary education, and music education in public schools on Long Island and NYC as well as theatre and dance to children and young adults. Ilyssa as recently completed her first 200-hour yoga teacher certification this January at Lighthouse Yoga School in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and will be participating in Christopher Bayes’ (head of physical acting at Yale School of Drama) Funny School of Good Acting Teacher Training Summer Program during June 2019.
